LOSS.MOV (2021)

digital video file, 4'41"

“LOSS.MOV” is an audiovisual composition set out to highlight the extreme decontextualization of long-lasting memes, while dragging the viewer into a state of both uncanny recognition and total disorientation. By collaging together pieces of content coming from a wide timespan of almost 20 years, this composition is completely carved out of YouTube search algorith magic. Following the same way that internet memes replicate themselves online, the videos were iteratively re-processed, resulting in a hysterical, degraded and violating sonic and visual experience.

Presented as part of the ne(x)t_generation 8.5 streaming festival at ZKM Karlsruhe in June 2021.
